Our Story
Duxford Studios is an independent contemporary Welsh jewellery brand, hand-crafting fine jewels inspired by life, death and the journey along the way. Founder Esme Rogers Evans, is one of the most exciting Welsh jewellery designers today; a passionate statement jewellery designer who celebrates Memento Mori, the Latin theory and practice of our reflection on mortality. The pieces in her collections are a reminder of the transient nature of life and the beauty of living each day to its fullest.
Based in South Wales, Duxford Studios’ award-winning pieces of wearable art are thoughtfully designed and skillfully crafted using the ancient process of lost wax casting. With the potential for customisation, these unique, eye-catching modern heirlooms build relationships with their wearers and become a part of the lives with which they join.
Contemporary Welsh Jewellery
Duxford Studios’ jewellery is instilled with an anthropological sense of human history and our inherent awareness of our time on the earth. Both unique and edgy collections cherish humanity's place on this small planet. They celebrate depictions of human body parts that make us who we are and freeze physical records of moments in time cast in precious metals so our existences live on beyond our years.
The bespoke service offers a chance for you to bring your own ideas to life. Each collaboration between Esme and the wearer or gifter is an exciting exchange of personal ideas, and Esme’s strong design concept and aesthetic results in fresh heirlooms to be cherished for generations.
Esme is committed to sourcing ethical materials, working with recycled precious metals wherever possible and hand selected gemstones from trusted and reputable suppliers. Each piece is expertly designed, crafted by hand and individually finished ensuring your jewellery is of the highest quality. The nature of each hand made process means that every piece is slightly different, making them one of a kind and personal to you.

About Esme | Contemporary Welsh Jewellery Designer
From large multi-sensory installations to tiny wearable art.
Following my Fine Art Sculpture degree, I travelled and continued exploring new creative skills. Having always loved wearing jewellery I was eager to delve into this lustrous world. I began a course while in New Zealand and from the beginning of the 1st class, I was transported back to my childhood pastime of making miniature sculptures. The scale felt so familiar; my inner child was awoken and she wasn’t going back to sleep without a fight.
My next destination was Saigon, Vietnam, and by this time my passion for jewellery making had taken hold. I taught myself to carve jewellers wax on a coffee table with manicure tools and files, and carried my intricate designs on the back of a motorbike to be cast into silver with the help of my translator. These 1st creations became the Memento Mori collection.
I was seduced by the quality of precious metals. The colours, weight and versatility were so enticing and the reusable nature of the material excited me. The ability to recycle unwanted metals and create newly loved pieces, while carrying the provenance of the material into its new form had an undeniable allure. I knew I’d found my ‘forever craft’!
My jewellery serves as records of personal experiences; traces of being in the world. Drawing on my contemporary artistic grounding, my work enables me to explore the ephemerality of life from birth to death and celebrate humanity's place in the universe. As a contemporary British jewellery designer, it's important to me that each piece represents an idea or an intangible feeling and my custom commissions serve as exciting collaborations between me and my clients. I hope to make timeless heirlooms that draw your attention, wake your imagination and are treasured for generations.
